We Need to Talk: Communicating with Your Child’s Teacher

One of the most important things you can do for your child in school is to communicate well with their teacher. The teacher will typically let you know how they prefer to communicate with you – by telephone, email, or even text. Feel free to let them know your preferred method of communication as well. Teachers are usually very happy to work with you, as they value that communication as much as you do. Try to make it to open-house night and conferences. It’s always hard to say goodbye to summer, but going back to school can also be a great experience if everyone is well-prepared. Here are some tips to help your child get back into the school routine: About a week before school starts, begin getting back to regular bedtime and wake-up time. You can start slowly, by adjusting in ½ hour increments. If you wait until the night before school starts, the quick change can make for a rough morning. Have the kids help make a schedule. Let them help decide what time they will need to go to bed to get enough rest, and what time they will need to get up to get ready in time. Tips for Interacting with Kids

Our family resides in Rainier and, we love our town!  When I'm out-of-state, people ask me if I live on Mt. Rainier!  I tell them that I don't; however, our community is so small that we don't even have a stop light!  Most city folks are pretty surprised by that!  Although I take pleasure in being a homemaker and raising calves, I am also the Principal of Eagle View Christian School in Yelm.  I have worked full-time with the students and the staff for over 15 years.  I thoroughly enjoy my job more every year!
