NEW Parenting Workshop Series comes to Rainier!
Beginning March 3, you can join a brand new 5-week FREE parenting workshop series. It uses a curriculum shown to effectively give parents the tools they need to be a positive role model in their child’s life. Parents with kids of any age are welcome, but the series is designed for those with children ages 6 to 12.
Sugar’n’Spice Daycare will host the classes and sponsor a FREE family meal, included at the beginning of each class from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Also offered is FREE child care and optional youth instruction that mirrors parenting classes.
Classes will run every Tuesday, from March 3 to March 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Sugar n’ Spice Daycare. Classes are cumulative, with South Puget Sound Community College offering 1 free college credit for participating in all five classes.
Every parent can benefit from more tools, tips and support along their journey. According to research, parents who are able to manage stress and bounce back; have knowledge of “normal” childhood development; have healthy social connections, the tools to communicate in healthy ways, and some type of support in their lives are better equipped to “parent.”* It’s a tall order that many of us struggle to balance. These classes are another way to network and be reminded of some healthy ways to connect with your family.
This parenting workshop series is co-sponsored by Rainier Community Cares (a coalition of TOGETHER!), Family Education and Support Services, the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery and Sugar’n’Spice Daycare. Registration is limited! Please call Marc at Family Education and Support Services at 360-754-7629 or email marc@FamilyESS.org to register or learn more!
