Children who have confidence in themselves have a sense of self-worth, so they are comfortable with themselves and their values. They are likely to "stick to their guns" when they are faced with challenges to their values and lifestyle choices.  They tend to show a caring and compassionate attitude toward others. When your child makes a mistake, remind them that they are capable and are doing well.  We all make mistakes; it's part of being human. Encourage your child to strive just a little bit more and let them know they can succeed. Remember to "catch" your child doing something good, kind, helpful, compassionate or generous.  If you see the best in your child, your child can see the best in themselves.  Let your child know that you expect the best qualities from them:  fairness, integrity, persistence and kindness.
